I wanted to change things up just a bit and give you something different. We’ll get back to The Average Piper tomorrow. Although not entirely savvy of social media terminology and etiquette, I understand that there’s something called “Throwback Thursday” to I’m going to use it to showcase certain aspects of The Bagpipe Place Museum. At the present time, I have content enough to last five or more years. And yes, I have much more to publish.
I started this work around 1987. Needless to say, it has been overwhelming at times, but always exciting. I feel fortunate to have lived at a time when this information could be shared, gathered together, and preserved for generations to come. Many people have contributed, to which I owe a huge debt of gratitude. I won’t name them here simply because they are too many and I wouldn’t want to leave anyone out. I will provide links to their various sites (where they have sites) as “contributors to The Bagpipe Place” within the next few weeks.
I’ve chosen Donald MacKay to showcase first. He was an award-winning competitor, composer, and maker of exquisite bagpipes. He was also brother to Angus MacKay, the first appointed Piper to Her Majesty, Queen Victoria. Angus’ story is tragic however his legacy is large. I hope you enjoy this entry.
