Certificate of Authenticity
|

|
Protect your investment! A Certificate of Authenticity and Opinion of Value is invaluable for insurance
claims or when reselling your bagpipe. I prefer to work with the physical bagpipe, however I can work
from digital images with an appropriate disclaimer. The certificate is printed on high gloss photographic
paper at high resolution. I also include a collage of close-up images of your bagpipe. My work is recognized
as being the best in the world and has resulted in insurance claims being paid without question. Cheap
protection for only $25. .

Below is a typical Certificate of Authenticity
|

|
This is to certify that on January 28, 2002 I personally inspected the pictured bagpipe for the purpose
of authenticating its origin and to provide an opinion of value. I have no personal interest in the subject
bagpipe. The opinion of value rendered herein is based on my research of similar bagpipes and my knowledge
of bagpipes in general. Fair market value is the dollar consideration agreed to by both buyer and seller

both buyer and seller being fully knowledgeable regarding the subject bagpipe. The subject bagpipe
was made by David Glen & Sons, Edinburgh, Scotland between 1912 and 1949. It is made of African Blackwood,
with nickel ferrules, African Blackwood button mounts, and elephant ivory rings and bushes. It is very
typical of bagpipes made by this company. Upon close examination all parts appear to be original and
matching. The beading and combing was in very good condition for a bagpipe of this age. There were no
chips or cracks in the ivory. All nickel ferrules were original and intact. The maker's stamp appears
on the bass drone stock, just beneath the ferrule.
|

|
The bass drone mid joint had a visible surface crack of about 4 inches in length in the area of the
tuning chamber. With proper restoration this crack can be permanently repaired without any negative aesthetic
or musical impact on the bagpipe. All other pieces were free of cracks. I ran all pieces on a lathe to
ensure that they were concentric and warp-free. All pieces ran true.
|

|
In determining an opinion of value, I take into consideration the make, reputation, and condition of
the bagpipe. I also consider the current demand for similar bagpipes according to my research and general
knowledge. I believe that a fair market value for the subject bagpipe is $1,500 USD. however depending
on a wide range of circumstances, this bagpipe could sell for anywhere between $1,200 USD and $1,750
USD. I would insure the bagpipe at the upper end of the price range.
