Roddy MacLellan is a superb Master Bagpipe Maker. He has earned a reputation that is unsurpassed for
excellence in the industry today. Roddy's original design was greatly influenced by bagpipes of antiquity
and he has since expanded his line of offerings. Roddy is also an outstanding silversmith and has created
many proprietary designs that are unique to his instrument. The MacLellan bagpipe sounds and performs
like an old-world Henderson. It delivers a rich, warm sound that surrounds the player. It also has
a HUGE tuning range, making it extremely steady. Have a listen here to my MacLellan in the chapel
at St. John's. The chanter is a MacLellan and the reed is a Ross. The drones reeds are Mark Lee's glass
Rockets. And here's one more cut.

I've been playing my MacLellan for about seven years now. Al Ash, then PM of NRPPB, once called it
the best bagpipe he'd ever heard. (Maybe it was the piper!) In any event it was a dominant bagpipe in
a band filled with outstanding instruments and tone-blowers. I remember warming up at the Celtic Classic
in Bethlehem one year. When the band stopped playing and I was shocked to see about eight pipers from
other bands standing directly behind me taking in the sound of that bagpipe.

a custom order that was nicknamed Darth Vadar.
